Training & Support
Since launching our first regional training program in 2017, GreenWave has trained and supported more than 3,500 emerging ocean farmers and hatchery techs.
Kelp Climate Fund
GreenWave’s Kelp Climate Fund is a subsidy for ocean farmers to support a bundle of climate impacts, including carbon, nitrogen, and reef restoration.
For the 21-22 farming season, the KCF pilot included 9 farms around the country and paid farmers more than $75,000. For the 22-23 farming season, the fund will increase to $250,000.
Seaweed Source
The Seaweed Source is designed to open new sales channels for small and medium-scale regenerative ocean farmers by leveraging GreenWave’s robust network of buyers.
Who Farms Matters
We partner with fishermen, Indigenous groups, and other under-resourced coastal communities directly affected by climate change to ensure they benefit from the industry’s growth. From paid hatchery mentorships to laying the groundwork for the first two Indigenous-owned seaweed hatcheries in the country, we focus our programming and resources to support emerging leaders in this space.
